I was online early looking at Summit racing and saw that they are selling winches. Does anyone know anything about there quality or who makes them? Are they generic like Milemarker with a different sticker on them or what? The prices don't look to bad!

They are rebadged T-max winches. They are considered good winches for the money, but not as good as the Warn stuff.

Summit has the ramsey rep 8.5e for $416 shipped to your door. Made in the USA and comes with a warranty. I am thinking about going that route.

Yep just a rebadged Mile Marker/T-Maxx POS winch, Save your money and get a Warn or Ramsey.

Milemarker and T-max are very much different companies. I would definitely get a T-max before a milemarker based on the discussion over on pirate about them.

Think I'll stick with my 8274 though

What do you think about the Superwinch? I haven't heard anyone say anything bad about them, so far.....

Everyone seems to like either Warn or Ramsey. I'm just trying to check them all out and get the best for the money, quality-wise.

I've had good luck with my Superwinch. It doesn't get much use but it's never broken on me. I had it permanently mounted between my frame rails and behind the bumper, so the Michigan winters messed it up after a while. It still worked but the free-wheel feature locked up so it had to be powered in and out. I was able to easily rebuild it and, IIRC, Superwinch sent me the parts I needed for free.
Now I have it on a piece of 2" bar stock and can move it between my front and rear receivers.
