I was looking at the rear of the 208 today and was thinking if anyone has ever cut the rear of it off and shortened the output shaft to allow for a longer driveline? I haven't seen the inside of the tail housing to see if I can re install a seal. It would be nice to gain 2-3" to improve my driveline angles.

I have heard of using that back half of a dodge np208 which has a fixed yoke. Not sure but I think is shorter as well, sould be since there is no need for the long splines for the slip.

You're talking about a slip-yoke eliminator? I have a fixed-yoke 208, as do a few others (do a search). If I remember right I gained 6 inches. I have never heard of cutting the original output shaft to achieve this, but there is a company that sells a fixe-yoke adapter that doesn't involve changing the case. You "just" drill and tap the end of the output shaft and bolt a yoke to it. This will lengthen your driveline by a couple inches - about how far the slip yoke sticks out now.

Link?

I don't wish to do a SYE on it as I have a slip yoke HAD shaft. A fixed yoke would be nice but just not $$'able at this time in the build.
