I have this crazy idea I add one to my afr 195 headed 383 I am building I figure it should be around 500hp with a solid roller cam. I am just worried that it will be too small for me if I bought it I want at least 650 out of it??? Any thoughts?

And I am not completely set on the 383 yet but I am pretty sure I will go for it right now I have the afr 195 heads and forged 4340 scat rods just trying to figure out what I want to do before I buy pistons. I don't really need that much power in my k5.but it sure would be fun

Those are great little blowers. I haven't owned one, but worked on some of my buddys cars who has them. I wouldn't mind running one in the future.

Did have a friend try and run one with a tbi but fought the hell out of it. He eventually went to a carb

Dont bother. You'll be huffing piping hot air to cram that motor with that blower. The aftermarket head design has gotten so good (which you know cause you have a pair of afr 195s) that the smaller blowers wont yield much of a gain. You need a 6-71 blower to push enough air into those heads to be efficient and honestly at that point you might as well just grab yourself a vortech centrifugal charger.

Those 144s are only good for putting on top of a stockish low compression era motor. IE a good application for that blower would be a L98 with aluminum heads or even an LO5 if you're not after torque but even then your only looking at sub 450hp numbers.

IMO take your heads. Keep your compression up around 10.5:1 and run a good hydro roller cam and it will easily be a 500hp motor. If you want over that mark streetable you need more cubes, turbos, or a centrifugal style blower.

yea thats what i was thinking the only reason i was thinking about it is because i found one for $750 and i figured i was spending at least 250 on a rpm air gap whats a few hundred more for another 100 or 150 hp

what about those magnuson units they any good? not sure if they are offered for a carb or not?

The magnusons are a twin screw rather than a roots if I remember correctly which is a better and more efficient design. As far as limitations like Im talking with a 144 vs a 6-71 I couldnt say.
