Any tips on removing the actual handle with shaft? Mine seems to be rusted/fused together. It's currently soaking in WD40 overnight.

On another note, anybody have a spare hatch handle return spring? Mine broke off. It's the spring in the picture.

What you really need to soak it in is either some Aero Kroil, or PB Blaster if its rusted together. It may take a week or so, but I have seen them both free up some amazing stuff. Sorry though no spring.

It's been submerged in WD-40 for about 3 days. I'll pick up some PB Blaster and give it a go. I refuse to let this handle beat. It will come loose.

An electrolosis tank isn't hard to make, and can de-rust some pretty nasty, fused together parts with zero effort..all you need is a plastic bucket,a battery charger, some scrap metal, and some washing soda..

I never used the home brew version, but I used to rebuild grinding chucks for that we're used in manufacture of u-joint components, and the industrial versions did a great job. Though we never dealt with a rust scenario, mostly varnish and grind grit causing a seizing action in the chuck slides.

As for aero kroil, it's amazing, but it takes time on seized components.:waytogo:

I hear Evapo-Rust works good also, but its expensive..

The electrolosis tanks work great,I have seen some remarkable results posted online by some who made one to de-rust parts for antique vehicle and tractor restorations ...
