So buddy and I go to a local yard. Haven't been there since summer, always have something worth while. Can only go on a Saturday, working 10 hours a day don't have the time, and closed by the time I get outta work. I have to watch the kid the Saturdays the g/f has to work, which is about every Saturday. Anywho, walk around, looking for nothing in particular. On the way out, the owner says "just the person I've been looking for". He's a pretty cool guy, always gives deals on stuff. I bought my p-pump Cummins for $500, and complete 8.1 liter/Allison for $750 from him. But he has a 99 3500HD that he just got, 454 Vortec, NV4500 tranny, can get whole truck with clean title for $1500. Running and driving, but there is some issue with the trans or clutch. I started it and went in and out of gears fine, clutch might be little low, but seemed OK. Guy he bought it from said the bell was cracked, and put another in, but said that bolts were missing. Still don't know what the deal was. Crawled under while clutch worked in/out and didn't see anything. The truck was a honey dipper with a 1000 gallon tank, and most likely used and abused. But everything was there, and would prolly be a plug and play for my truck. 1999 GMC crew cab short box. Has a tired 350, 4l80 and 3.73s. I love the truck, but it's a total dog. I have the SAS kit already, HP44 and 60, springs, brand new 375/65/16s, just no money and no where to do it. Hoping that will change, looking at houses tomorrow. Once we get a house, then really won't have any money....

I hear you! Been there.
I get this idea that I could do this or that, and something more necessary comes around. Having my son in college isn't super easy to afford.

The space problem can be a bigger obstacle sometimes!
I hope that you can get a plan and get it done!

Back in the summer I had some money didn't know I had. Told myself don't blow it all on stupid crap, and I didn't but when I think about it, have hardly a clue where it went!!! I don't think the truck will go anywhere, specially if I tell him I want it and just need some time. He held onto both motors till I could pick them up, so shouldn't be an issue. Just getting it out of the way so people won't think its a parts truck will be only problem. Houses we are looking at all have a garage and/or land, so once we get a house it won't be an issue. Another reason I want this truck, I need a home to put the 6BT, 4500 and 78/79 HP60. I also have a divorced 203 and 205 for a doubler. But I want something different, love crew cabs, 3500HDs, this truck with a clean title/frame is a good starting point to build a HD crew cab SAS'd with a Cummins. He also has a handful of crew cab cab's, the frame can be stretched and shortened in the rear for a regular 8' flatbed. Just hope I'll be able to eat after getting a house.....
