It seems the 97 Grand Cherokee I bought a few weeks ago has an alarm on it.
I had to pull the battery cable to stop the damn thing a minute ago.
There was no mention of an alarm when I bought it and no remote.
Where do they usualy install alarms and how do I disable it?
It is tied into the ignition too, it will fire off and die as soon as ya let it go to the run position.
Letting it sit with the battery disconnected for a bit had no effect other than the horn quit bleating, reconnect and the lights still flash and it wont run.
Once I find what system is on it what do I do to get a new remote?
This is a new kind of pain in the azz.

that may be the factry alarm on that and if it is you can turn it off using the key on the passenger door, if it is the aftermarket kind there should be some kind of switch or button under the dash on driver side, just turn the key on and push the button or switch and that might turn it off. let me know if that helps, most likely the key on passenger door will work.

Right on thanx bro.

Hooked up the battery and all was still, opened the passenger door and it started up again, cycled the key in the lock and it stopped.
Cool, the dealer should have what I need for it.
I was just getting ready to drop the $$ for an alarm too.
I still have no idea what armed it.
At least it freaked out in the drive way and not at the store.
