I have 1000 bucks that i have squirrled away and would like some of you more experienced K5 ers to tell me where my money is best spent, i have stock size tires and a 4 inch lift so i am leaning towards bfg 35X12.5 mud terrains, and then in the future go with a spring lift as i have blocks now, what would yall do??

:dunno:

tires is a good upgrade, probably what I would do. Besides that tires are going to go up again here very soon so buying now could save you a bunch of money and by soon I mean before may 1st

if you realy want bfg thats good tire yes. but if on budget and want more than just tires find some diffrent options.

if me i would do tires and mabye steering box bolt in brace . those 2 would do real good with each other.

comeon guys dont get the noob all screwed up here. keep it simple.

I bet you can if you do your shopping, I got all 4 of my 12-bolt h1's for 300 bucks.
1-tons can be had for 500-1000 if you shop around

I like the steerin box brace, i have put yukon gears in the rear diff. already so id like to keep em until i break something, this blazer has been rode hard and put up wet, i rolled it over 2.5 years ago and it pretty much sit in the sun until 3 months ago, it is all dented up on the top and some on the sides, so im not worried about cosmetics only how tough the sucker is. thanks ill post a pic when i can get the tires and brace installed

Its a stupid question I know. But you do have lift springs in the front and not blocks right. I cant tell from the way that was said.

yep blocks in the back, im guessing it is lift springs in the front. it sets pretty level but im a noob so im guessing they are lift springs as i do not see any shackles or other modded parts

I would get the tires and drive the thing... Enjoy the rig for a while... Whatever direction you end up going with this rig, will probably change drastically over the next year or so...

That's just my $0.02...

Well, being the practical fella that I am, I'd be checking shocks, brakes, rod and drag link ends, etc. and replacing those. Then I'd probably get the ORD flip kit for the rear and a set of 33's off CL or eBay or whatever.

I like the BFG KM2s.

[rant on]
But why is it that those 35" tires on 15" wheels are $100 less per tire than the 35" on 17" wheels that I want. One would think there is less tire material needed to build for the 17" wheel (less sidewall). I feel like I'm paying more for less.
[rant off]

I also like the ORD steering brace and frame repair kit.

Tires and steering were the first things I spent money on for my K5

yep im gonna get the tires and work on the steering everything else is decent, except when i push the brake the hazards flash in the back, 496truck i rant all of the time about the same thing, they are popular i suppose

496truck i rant all of the time about the same thing, they are popular i suppose

I would say that this is the reason. supply and demand, the 17" wheels are more popular, especially on newer trucks that have to use 17" or bigger wheels, that translates into more money for the tire company.

and I vote for getting the bfg tires. Ive heard a bunch of good things about them and they seem to be one of the cheaper tires Ive seen.

I would go with the bfg KM2 mud-terrains. I am very happy with mine. I would then look at a locker next. My next upgrade will be a front lock-right. If you do go with the 35s, you'll be close to maxing out the 10 bolts, and if you're a hardcore wheeling, you'll need some 1 tons.

My 2 cents.

KM2's are the best all around tire I've ever seen/used. With proper maintenance I personally had a set last almost 50k on a well abused Dodge work truck that saw all types of terrain (but no true hardcore wheeling).

They'll certainly be my next set on my K5 if I ever get that far.
