I have searched and am more confused than when I started searching, lol. OK, I just bought an 87 Suburban K20, TBI 350, SM465/NP208. It has a Tuff Country 4" spring lift front/rear, longer braided brake lines, raised steering arm on axle, appears to be stock pitman arm and drag link. I took this thing for a test drive today and it has a good amount of bump steer. I had my wife turn the steering wheel back and forth to see if things were worn out, ther are not. BUT it appears the drag link has a slight UPWARD (front to back) angle. Should I replace the raised steering arm with a stock one? What angle should I be shooting for at ride height sitting on level ground?
Thank You for any help you can give.

Thank You to both of you. That is the article I read first and then kept searching and found people claiming flat angles, etc...

So my take away from that is a stock steering arm on the axle, stock drag link, and a drop pitman arm for a 2.5-4" lift.

my k30 with 3" springs up front has a drop pitman arm and stock steering and its got just a tiny bit of drop to the rear .

with your 4" lift you would be a lot better off in my opinion this way over the raised arm on the knuckle .

Hows this? Stock arm and stock pitman, sitting on the ground level.

Thank You.
Just drove down the street and back. WOW what a difference. no bump steer. So, should I side step the 2" drop pitman arm for now and run it this way?

i think you be fine . the drop arm last i checked was over 100 bucks . and used ones dont hardly ever show up and if they do there gone fast .

try it for a few weeks and see how the long term test drive feel is .

Ok, cool. I did order a drop pitman from ORD along with a steering box brace. So I will try this for a while before I decide to use the pitman arm. Thank You very much.

@SoCal'75 pay attention to it under hard braking. If you hold the steering wheel on a panic stop and it pulls to one side, you're feeling bump steer. I suspect it'll pull to the right and the drop pitman arm will help or fix it. It's easy enough to swap, test it out some and see what's best. It sounds like you've already made giant strides in making it work better!
