I got the bad news today that my wife's 67 C10 12 bolt diff carrier has a hair line crack in it. What are my options? I know it's cast iron and few people already said have someone who can actually weld (pro) weld and smooth it out. Don't wanna really drop $400 and up in new unit but to be truthful it needs about $190 for new parts already. So what would you do? Where do you recommend I look for best prices? Street truck I am building for her and it small block 350,small cam ,700R4 with 3:73 gears. Looking for input here fellows!

I got a new in box Detroit true trac posi off ebay for 100 less then anyone else buy watching for a deal and grabbed it up quick .

I might know of a good used oem posi I will check with him .

I've got a 12 bolt with 4.10s and a truetrac in my back yard . If only you were closer.

More to your question - don't weld the carrier. It's heavily loaded, the weld most likely won't hold. Get a replacement carrier or a junkyard axle.

Sweet that would be awesome there to find a good used one through another member! Checked on ebay but might wanna double check and pm me if you see something I missed!!
Rebel two ways to skin a cat first pull posi out and sell off housing or I can check check when my buddy is headed back your way to see family.
Keep a eye out as I really need one to put her truck frame back together almost there with needing to build rear axle and install it! Thanks guys
