I'm 42 and have never owned anything but GM vehicles. All trucks except for one '79 Monza with a 350, so all V-8's. I was trying to find something easier on gas than my 462BB and ended up buying a J**P!!! I felt sort of sick for several days even though it took a week to get the price down. Now I don't know squat about a '97 wrangler except around here I know I can always sell it. I'm trying to not let it distract me too much from my trucks, but I have a hard time with a J**P, let alone a stock one!! At least it rides better than my K30.:doah:

Never been in your position, 'cuz I never bend over. :haha:

If you were looking for fuel economy but kept your chevy trucks, why did you get a jeep?

The jeep is stock 4cyl, 5spd. Of the trucks I would sell nothing is ready to sell. I didn't think the guy would take almost half of book value with only 86K on the odometer. Can I blame it on peer pressure? I figured I'll drive it for part of the summer while I get rid of the '99 3500WT, the '99 2500 suburban, and get the '87 K10 in shape. My buddies that aready had Jeeps think it's hilarious.

I guess you are right, that's what I get for not covering my backside!

I've been thinking about picking up a Geo Tracker lately...

Even bought a J**P a month or so ago... It's for my daughter... But, it's a cool fullsize Cherokee...

But yeah, I have a hard time buying anything but GM... Usually I'll sell it off pretty quick if it's not GM... I don't get attached to other rigs like I do with the GMs...

besides GM vehicles I've had a Ford T-Bird and a Nissan Maxima... Both of which I beat the crap out of them like a redheaded stepchild until they broke and gave them away.

All other vehicles have been GM. Buick Regal, Chevy Nova, Chevy Camaro, GMC Jimmy... All of which I took TLC, lol.

I've had the Camaro about 7 or 8 years now, will probably have it forever (I've been thinking of moving out of state to motor-swap it... lol). My Jimmy is on it's 2nd year in my possession and I will have it for the foreseeable future.

If I ever bought a new car, it would have to be a Camaro SS or a Silverado 3500 Quad Cab... Those are my only options, so I won't be getting a new car anytime soon, lol.

BTW, both the T-Bird AND the Maxima were given to me (well, the Maxima was bought for 25 dollars, same thing)... And I bought every one of my GM's with cash money baby, LOL

I dont see the problem  . You wanted a more fuel efficient DD and you got one at a great price that still has moderate off road capabilitys if you need em. I got a dodge ram 50 for the exact same reason and its worked out great. I dont know jack shet about my dodge ram 50 although its simple enough with a 5 speed manual and a 2.0 liter carbed 4cyl. Drive it,maintain it and enjoy the luxurys of passing the gas stations and fitting in compact parking spots :waytogo: .

im got a 96 blazer that i bought to run in winter and around town cause the truck is a bit to "fun" on the roads...and 8 miles to the gallon sucks

i beat the hell out of the blazer, trans slips, fan only works on high, 2 of the 4 windows dont work, and ohh yea its got a 4.3 so it has the power of a 6 and the fuel efficency of an 8.

also have an acura integra but thats the other toy its nice to see 32 mpg while breaking the speed limit

FS jeeps are bad a$$. the old ones have Buick engines so they can kinda be GMish...Only jeep i've had was a 66 cj with a buick v6.

As for a DD, can't blame anyone for getting anything that gets better mileage these days...

It's really cool that you guys understand! I know it may not be the best on gas, but like gotblazers pointed out, it can do more than just haul me to work. I couldn't find anything that would haul the family across town once in a while, be fun to have around, decent MPG, not cost to much to buy,,,, all that. Besides, living so close to the San Juan mtns and Moab, I can wheel it too!

Jeeps are decent. Here is a picture of part of my fleet.
