I did just tonight.

Apparently the radiator cap on the water neck was stuck shut and not venting which caused the neck to blow off the motor. Or, at the very least, crack and then eventually vibrate the rest of the way off. Was about 1/2 mile from home when the temp light came on. B-lined it home and shut it down. When I hit the kill switch it deiseled for approx. 30 seconds. Pretty hot I guess. No water visible in the engine or in the overflow.

How well or poorly does a two stroke handle something like this? I don't have much experience with two stroke engines and have never overheated one before. Just curious if any others have experience with similar.

I rode sleds for 30 years and have over heated them. It really depends how hot it got. Best thing you can do is get it back together and take a compression test.

Will do. Hope I didn't scorch it.

Like a car, could be bad, could be ok. compression test will tell.
