My 87 Suburban started having problems the other day with the lights. When I turn the headlights on this happens:

Headlights turn on
Taillights do NOT turn on
Interior floorboard lights turn on
Interior overhead lights are on but VERY dim
Dash lights do NOT turn on.

When I turn the headlight switch to turn the interior lights on this happens:

Overhead lights turn on bright
Under dash lights turn off.
Everything else stays the same.

SO WTF??? Anyone have any idea of what this may be? I haven't looked at all into this. I thought I'd post the problem here first to see if anyone had any insight on it.

It started out of the blue. It worked fine, then I parked the truck for a few hours and when I came back it was Fubared. /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Thanks for your help.

Ground sound possible. I'll try switching the headlight switch with my 86's switch. See if that it'll help. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

uh... it's a figure of redneck-speech

for example:
hick a) "cracked my frame yesterday"
hick b) "you'll have that..."

hick a) "f**kn spun a bearing playn last night"
hick b) "that'll happen..."

Sorry, I'm a NOOB when it comes to Redneck slang. But I'm trying to learn. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

did u check the fuses? my truck did that SAME EXACT thing and it was the tail lights/crst fuse, i got pulled over 2 times for no tail lights because one damn fuse was blown and i couldnt figure it out for the life of me

Could it be the switch itself? I had some weird problems similar to that and it ended up being the switch.
