So I have an 83 k5 with a 350. The truck seemed to run great when I first got it but it sat for about a year or so prior. The problems Im having now are that when I start it it seems to start but the rpms immediately start slowing down and it will die. Also if I am backing up a hill it will stumble really bad when I can actually get it going. It will also stumble a little when I accelerate too. Once the rpms are up it goes good. when it idles it seems like its just going really slow and at some point there is oil dripping from the rear of the motor someplace, it drips down the starter but only when its on. This truck did not leak prior to these problems. The turning point was one day i was driving and there was some ruts in a field so i ran through them and kinda floored it. The next time I started the truck these problems started. So far i have sprayed carb cleaner and replaced the fuel filter thinking maybe i brought up some crap in flooring the truck, which i had not done prior. Any tips on which direction I should be headed wold be greatly appreciated since this truck is going to have to be my daily driver soon. Thanks in advance.

I would check for a vacuum leak first. Second check the timing, if this all started the first time you got the RPM up high you may have sticking mechanical advance weights in the distributor. As far a the oil leak goes, clean the crap out of the motor and start looking.

EDIT: check the back of the manifold to see if you may have pushed out the gasket. That can cause a good size oil leak and other issues.

I felt like a lame with this problem so I started looking again, what I found was that the hoses on the fuel pump are falling apart, so much that when I pushed on one, fuel started spraying out. i think the oil leaks when the motor is struggling to idle and I give it some gas. So my question now is, what are the hoses that go into the fuel pump? There is 3 on mine, a fat hose, a skinny hose, and a metal hose that goes up to the carb. The fat and skinny hoses are what I am wondering about. Anybody know? I figured there would only be an in and an out.

Fat hose is the pickup from the tank and the 1/4" one is the return line.
