when I pull back of my 1989 suburban turn signal bright switch instead of getting my brights I only get driver side bright headlight to turn on and nothing else. The other three h eadlights turn off. What gives? thanks clark

Your passenger side high beam is burnt out.

On these, when you hit high beams, the low bean, outside lights shut off, only the inside ones turn on.

That is correct, unless you do the relay mod that leaves ALL lights on when hi-beams are selected.

Thanks you'd think all four headlights would come on. Whats the relay mod and where do you get it? thanks clark

There's a bunch of them out there. A simple search of 'headlight relay kit' on summit turned up about 10 of them. You can also piece together the circuit yourself, but there are two things it needs to achieve.

1. Pull headlight power straight off the battery - this makes all your lights brighter. The change can be significant depending on the condition of your current wiring.

2. Leave all 4 lights on with high beams.

Here's one that does both for $20. Says it's for 94-98, but it could probably be adapted:

I did the relay mod to fire all four up, but for some reason, it started popping the inline fuse to the relay wiring and whatnot. Haven't checked into it to see why though.
