Header gaskets again.....

Computers are revolting this week. I’ve had nothing but problems with equipment this week. Problems that no one has ever experienced and the manufacturers can’t figure out.

i finaly got it started but when i put the diagnosis mode on it say the bran new o2 sensor is bad.........

The one thing i remember from my first computer class, was that a computer is just dumber faster.

well there are no leaks withthe new gaskets i put a shp vac to the tail pipe and soapy water and no bubbles but it wont start
Well, the good news is, you have definitely fixed the gasket problem.....
As long as the engine won't start, those gaskets will never fail............:doah:

LOL , The o2 bung was blowing bubbles at me when i checked for leaks trying to find out why it wont run
looked likje a 4 year old with a bubble wand

On ALL bolt holes in a used iron block/heads always run a tap in to clean them out. Rust and shards of metal shavings can limit the depth of the bolt hole. When using the tap use a tapping lubricant to loosen the rust and make for a cleaner cut. After cleaning out use a brake cleaner in each hole and compressed air to remove any debris. It takes time and patience but the result is well worth it. Also, if reusing the old bolts, use a wire wheel on the threads to clean them too.

Here's a hot tip...don't re-use header bolts. Used fasteners can be a real problem in some locations.

I had a problem with fasteners loosening and falling out of my trans/T-case mount on my old K5. Three or four times I found loose and missing bolts, once loosing most all of them on the trail. Drove me nuts (pardon the pun). I finally bought all brand new fasteners, and lo and behold I never had another issue loosing bolts there. I had the same problem with the header bolts on that truck. Nuts don't get tighter, bolt threads don't get better with age and use. They both get sloppier. New headers bolts are maybe $10?

Your picture of the seal area looks like the Sanderson headers that don’t use a gasket, and just use RTV. Not sure why they would use that welded flat area if they also need a gasket. Maybe try that.

Never ever thought about doing this... great idea!
it's the small things in life... :waytogo:

only thing that would bother me is possibly blowing some trash back through an exhaust port...but the probability of that happening is pretty small.

I have an industrial size vapor machine that blows smoke for checking for leaks.

69830 the flange is thicker than the others and no raised weld on the ports..
