What are you guys using for header gaskets. I usually just use Loctite ultra copper rtv and it seems to work pretty good. When I swapped motors this time I used the gaskets that came with the headers cause they looked like a good casket. I noticed they are leaking and the header bolts could be tightened a little more. Give me your solutions.
The collector gaskets don't leak. I use the solid copper ones there.
Thanks
Tarey

I've had the best success using the Fel-pro 1444's. No sealer of any kind and no leaks.

2 sets dubbled up of felpro oem style replacement gaskets for stock iron manifolds. and thats on cheep headers also. no leaks till i sold the truck.

x2 on the oem manifold gaskets. Never had a leak up top with those.

This is what I used after several sets of gaskets along with one leak after another. Now its been 5 years no leaks and no re tightening after these were installed.
Earls header gaskets for summit racing. They have a carbon insert that is separate from the aluminum flange.

Highly recommended!!!

When I put new hookers on my nova, I used the gaskets that came with them and had no issues at all. At first I got all the bolts snug then ran it for a while and got them good and hot, and snugged them up a little more, I repeated that a few times. I never had a problem whatsoever.

Heard nothing but bad stories about the gaskets that come with most headers, so used a set of the felpro exhaust manifold gaskets...no leaks in over 5 years.

I got the aluminum ones at Auto Zone in the performance aisle. they work good. and they're reuseable.

When I put the headman's on my burb, I just used the cheapo gaskets that came with them. They needed re-tightened once, but have been fine for a couple years. The cheapish gaskets that came with the edelbrock headers on my camaro have never needed re-tightened (5 or 6 years).

X2. I use these and have had to take them off several times. Each time sealed great. Reuseable that actually work....:D:bow:
