Header gaskets

Were there any small leaks before your gaskets blew out? Just wondering.

Barely got to drive the thing. It sealed fine on the gaskets provided, for a few hundred miles, then started leaking. I was running it hard towing up a grade, with the burb loaded down, when it started to leak . Didn't really get to snug everything down again until the gaskets were toast. Wasn't about to snug them down on a HOT motor.

And really, knew i had the nice gaskets ready to go in at home, so wasn't too concerned about it. Was just really surprised that i didnt' get at least 6 months of use out of the gaskets provided. Pretty sure i could have made gaskets out of paper plates that would have lasted as long as those flowtech ones......

I put edelbrocks, with their supplied cardboard gaskets, plus copper seal
haven't started it, but I'll heat cycle it a few times and tighten things down, then again after I change my break-in oil, or so.

All sealants will eventually burn up at header temps. I've tried before with several brands. Best results I've had were the all- metal gaskets like the copper ones posted earlier or similar aluminum ones. Good luck.
