I installed some headers tonight on the 400 small block. My concern is that on the passenger side the header is kinda close to the starter and the wires for the starter are damn near touching the header pipe. I had no heat tape around so I ghetto fabbed it and wrapped the wires up good with Tin foil and tried to get them off the pipe. Is this a common problem, will I melt down all the wires?. I'm going to get some heat tape I guess, is that gonna be enough? Theres also a fuel line running down that side as well:eek1:

if you look at summit or jegs they have a starter sheild or some heat wrap for pretty cheap. i have the heat wrap i think it was 20 bucks or so. it seems to work ok but i havent got many miles on it since it was installed.

Never ever had problems with starter or fuel lines. Only thing I do is split some heater hose and slip it over the wires.

All my vehicles have headers, and carbs for that matter.
