i always here about different types of headers and how headman or hooker are high end and flow tech are low end.

what makes a header high or low end other than the price?

i know some are made with better steel and seal up better and wont rust ass fast, but what about power gains? is it in the bends and length or what?

Well you touched on some of them,

- better materials won't rust as easy.
- thicker flanges seal up better
- welded flanges seal better than the folded sliding plate crap
- some have ball/socket joints, some people like them, some don't
- fit is an issue, quality headers fit better and are sometimes easier to install
- thicker pipes are more solid and should last longer but will be heavier
- some headers have ceramic coatings which last longer and hold heat in better than paint.
- Also, the much higher end headers are also tuned equal length primaries and probably longer collectors, etc. for more power.

I would go middle of the road for a truck and get some quality hooker competition headers.
