I guess the next step for me will be 45dollar dead soft aluminum type from Summit!
I wish I could just drop[ 350 on a set of new pipes but oh well! Ya know the old saying "Hold out both hands, now wish in one and spit in the other and see witch one fills up the fastist!"

headers suck ass-they leak-try e-bay for exhaust manifolds i got a set of ram horn vette manifolds for my truck for 73.oo including gaskets.

Opinions are like assholes...you know the rest

Edelbrock has shorty headers for K5's? Does anyone know the part number or if this would be a bolt on job?

they are brand new but only for 88-91 chevys for now. i saw them in an article in the new petersons 4 wheeler, i think they were $185. shorty headers should bolt right up

I'm happy with my set up. Stock manifolds, 2.25 inch pipes, 2.25 inch Flowmasters, tailpipes.
Just one comment I don't think anyone has made yet...Do most Blazers really need headers? Blazers are heavy and most of them don't spin high RPMs where headers can help the most. Don't get me wrong. I put headers on a '79 Blazer a few years ago and I could tell a difference in performance and it was fun, but I don't know if it would be worth it for everyone. The cost can sometimes be alot and it usually means breaking the law with emissions. AND, I've never had problems with my manifolds leaking.

Chevy good...Ford bad

Do headers make changing the plugs a lot harder? I heard that they're really in the way. Are they worth all the trouble?

Blazin' in Flagstaff

OK my 2cents...
Changing pulgs on my rig my Dynomax headers are much easier. The headers them self were less than $100 from summit and I have noticed a increase in power. They have yet to leak and a quick trip to the local muffler shop put the rest of the exaust on for me ($14(each) tubro muflers). The headers seem to work fine and as far as a "y"pipe goes.... no idee, like I said the shop did complete dual setup all the way back. I was unsucessful in trying to get an crossover pipe or "H" pipe installed due to front driveshaft.

I'm very happy with my Flowtech Afterburner headers. I didn't lose any low-end torque and gained a lot of high-end torque. I haven't had any leaks and I'm using the cardboard gaskets that came with the headers. I say go with headers. They'll make your engine compartment look much better. Just be careful with your local laws.

As of the Y-pipe, my guess is that it's OK to bolt the reducer cone to the header and then weld the cones to the y-pipe. The stock manifolds were bolted not welded to the y-pipe in my 79.
