Time to replace my headers! Has anyone used the pacesetter headers they seem fairly priced and come with a coating. Any suggestions on a particular brand have to be smog legal. I have the edelbrock TES HEADERS after 12 years they are developing small holes and starting to rust.

Everything rusts if you live in a rusty area. But whatever you can with thick flanges and call it good. Both the head and collector flanges. I run Hedman Elites, and they are good. They are rusty, but around here, if its not rusty, it hasnt been out of the garage yet.

I uses pacesetters on a LS1 camaro I had. Great fit. Never leaked. The coating held up OK, but I only drove it in the summer.

Hooker Competition for me. Nice fit, no leaks, and the flanges seem to be thicker than many of the other bargain (Under $200) headers. Holley also makes the Flowtech brand, but for having seen both, the Hookers are worth the extra money.

search for the info on what hits n fits . lots of cheepy ones hit the shackles and fit like crap. i dont have the thread saves n handy to post for you sorry .

few guys have posted pics and part #'s of hedman or hookers that dont hit and fit super. 1 model even stays above the bottom of the frame rails and way out ofthe way of the shackles.

and since your cali make sure you are CARB friendly .

I know a lot of people recommend Hedman Elites, which is why that's what I bought, but mine hit the shackle on the driver's side. Not so much that they're unuseable, but enough that I would look in a different direction the next time around. Who knows, maybe I just got the bad one out of the batch.

That was why I went with the hooker (2453). Above the bottom of the frame rail and no where near the shackle. Super fit. Although according to my paperwork I don't think they are CARB friendly...

not one person has taken into account he said cali compliant... Hookers, Hedman's, etc ain't gonna fit the bill..

Another thing to keep in mind, ceramic coating is a wonderful thing. But if you scratch, chip, or damage the coating installing the header, it voids the warranty and will rust away. And I have yet to install a set of headers without some sort of damage to them.

I bought Doug Thorley headers back around 1995 and they are still fine, not rusty, and I lived in Iowa for 14 years. They are discolored, but that's it.

Every time I change plugs I curse the things though. I wonder how much difference it makes for the RPM range most people operate a K5 in? I'll look seriously at a stock type manifold next time, maybe with a nice coating or something. All is well now though, so haven't researched it.

This, don't waste your time with thin flanged headers, I ran the same pacesetter on my 88 with. No problems
