I have a 87 k5 with a 383 stroker ,angle plugs,700r4 auto. I purchased DNA block hugger stainless headers through eBay. They fit on passenger side but not on driver's side. Motor mount just a little too big and hits collector. If it just was half inch more clearance they would fit. Anybody had the same problem or same set up? Which headers will fit? Thank you in advance.

Cannot address any potential issues with angle plugs, but from what I've seen, I'd think angle plugs would make access to them easier than "standard" plugs. IIRC, #5 is a bear to get to without breaking the plug on my hedmans.

Just based on the sheer volume of posts, Hedman 69830 seem to fit just about every 1973-87(91) C/K/R/V. 62230 is the stainless part number.

You can start here if you like, lol https://ck5.com/forums/threads/hedman-elite-header-review.213472/

Thanks for the reply, anything helps

So you question is about fitment and the collector hitting the motor mount, right? Probably a dumb question but how does the rubber look in that mount?

Not sure but engine has low miles but it's been parked for awhile without use. Was thinking of changing mounts too slimmer ones if available but working on Chevy is new to me.

Ok, worked on K5 today and found that the header was hitting the motor mount at the welds of collector. Dimple headers which I risk of cracking welds or upgrade the motor mounts but has anyone place the OEM to aftermarket motor mounts and see clearance?

Maybe you could use a shim under the motor mount to block pad,GM used them on some vehicles on one side only, and on both sides on some 4x4's that had those strut rods going back to the bellhousing..they were triangular shaped and had the bolt pattern for the block, and about 3/16" thick..

Great idea, I'll check today.

My solution with issues like this are almost always a blowtorch and a hammer. lol

Worst case is that it cracks a weld. If it does, you take it to someone with a tig and have it welded.

I've beat headers into submission on several occasions and haven't cracked one yet.
