Ok gang, I have gotten great feedback for my post. One of my post was on short block hugger headers. Passenger side fits but driver's side hits motor mount. Waiting for diy4x to send me motor mounts which I hope gives me more clearance but if not I may be purchasing a different header for 87 k5 with angle plugs and column shift auto. Any suggestions on what fits? Maybe someone had come across the same problem. It's for a 383 stroker which is the same as a 350. Thanks guys

I think the big header thread is mostly about long tubes... But I also can't find it. Maybe Dorian will chime in, he usually is pretty good at that sort of thing.

Why is this a new thread from this: https://ck5.com/forums/threads/headers.330370/#post-3777677?

You bought these headers?

So is the pointy part of the collector flange hitting the engine mount? Can you swap them between sides of the engine or does that angle the flange in the wrong direction? 1/8" seems within the realm of grinder work, but would it still clear as the engine moves in the mounts?

I vote you cut the hood and install them upside-down :whistle2:

I tried swapping out passenger side. Motor mount is hitting welds by collector

The weld where cylinder 6 and 8 tubes meet the collector? In the picture, it looks like the left and right headers are the same part, but have you tried both of them on passenger side?

He was asking if you had tried swapping the headers from one side to the other...

I tried swapping them, same problem. I'm gonna have my friend look at them and reweld it with a tig

I doubled up My header to head gasket to
Push it out a little farther but I have long tubes. It helped keep the collectors away from the shackle a little bit more as well. I used the mr gasket header seals and it helped a lot. More area to crunch and seal
Better.

With the help of couple buddies, we installed the diy4x motor mounts which made it easy with 3 of us. The headers now was hitting the angled frame mount that the motor mounts to the frame side so I grinded the area so it has 1/4-3/8" room. Hope that's enough. Since the motor mounts are more rigid it shouldn't move as much

I am going to buy a set of these headers for my truck (Flowtech PN# 11508). According to the fitment guide they are supposed to fit square bodies. These are mid-length headers. Full-length headers always seem to hit the spring shackles, on 4X4's, right at the header collector.

I haven't done the full exhaust yet, but mid lengths from a chevelle seem to fit good.
