I didnt want to hi-jack the other thread. I got my part in today. It required 3/32 rivets, which after some looking, I wouldve had to order. I had some 1/8" rivets and just drilled the lil holes out on the "floating nut" to 1/8" , worked like a charm.

got one side all mounted up and headlights in, seems pretty sturdy. Time will tell, but this has to be better than those POS plastic pieces from the factory.

The floating nut, its 1.23" long and the holes are 1" spaced. they fit perfectly in the space of the plastic square adjuster.

I have to pick up a couple of the adjuster screws and then I can install the drivers side lights, but that wont take any time, the mounts are already drilled and riveted onto the rad. support.

Thanks for looking :pimp:

I got mine from Pegasus Racing, they do have the 3/32" rivets but I feel those are too small anyways, so I recommend going up to the 1/8 rivets.

These are aircraft nutplates and trust me when say 3/32" rivets are plenty big enough. These are the same nutplates that hold on skin panels on fighters. When up size them the hole to 1/8" it takes too much metal away and weakens the nutplate. You will probably never have an issue with it in this application though. I've always wondered what I could use these for and I think you've got a great idea here.

So why does the nut have to float? I always thought the purpose of the plastic was to work like a Nyloc and also prevent rattles. It's not exactly a rigid mount to the headlight housing, so why not just weld a nut to the rad support?

The nut DOESNT have to float, thats just the design of what I got. It really doesnt move once in place. If I wouldve taken a lil more time, I probably couldve found some that dont move and ordered those.

Welding a nut would work too, I dont weld so this was the next solution that is easy to do and not permanent if it doesnt work out.

I just saw those headlamp adjusters in the "HELP" section at Pep-Boys,for 2.99 each...I think the part # was 42171,but I didn't write it down...Fords used these factory back in the earlier days...they only had like 2 in stock though,of course!...none of the other stores around here stocks as much "HELP" parts as they do though, didn't see any anywhere else I went while searching for front brake hoses for my '82 K2500....
