headlight issues

anybody have any thoughts as to why when i step on my highbeam switch my headlights turn off :doah: , the wiring isn't butchered so i dont think its a grounding issue.
 
Bulb is burn out, likely.

From stock, the low beams go off when the highs are on; it is common to add a relay to the low circuit to run both when the highs are on.

The wiring is all stock, its a 79 btw, i"ll try swapping out the lights tomorrow, do you think it could be the switch itself?? i've had the switch go out before but my headlights stayed on when i pressed the switch

Mine did the same thing. Replaced the switch and it's all good now.
