ok its my dads pickup. heres the deal. one day the dims stopped working. well, upon further inspection, they kind of blinked, whenever you turned them on, along with every light on the truck, including interior lights blinking at same time. brights, everythings fine. park lights work fine.

so i figured it was the dimmer switch, replaced it last night, same problem. Then, as dad was going to work this morning, he said he didnt have ANY lights. im thinking a shorted wire? a relay?

sounds like a loose ground making intermitant contact or arcing.

since there are no lights, now, check fuses. won't be the cause of the original problem, but if you find a bad fuse, it can help track down the bigger problem.

oh, and 454ss, sweeeet.

when I hit the high-beams, the engine dies. like, what's up with that?

runs fine as long as the low beams are on, and when the engine dies, some electrical stuff stays on, and some doesn't - the starter cranks, but the engine will not start.

then, if I wait a couple of days and go out and start it up, it's like nothing ever happened.

Remove the black plastic cover on the passenger side of the firewall. All of the power for the truck is routed through a distribution block that is hiding under there. Make sure that all of the nuts that hold the wires in place are still tight.

If all looks good there, then it's time to start looking at every ground connection on the truck. :(
