Headlight switch controlling wipers?

My 88 has developed a problem of having wipers come on when I pull on the headlight switch on. They'll speed up or down sporaticly, but will stop when I turn down/off the dash lighting. Any ideas?

crossed wires...insulation worn down somewhere??bare wires touching..

Just shooting from the hip, but it sounds like a poor ground(s) or the alternator is not putting out enough juice to supply both the wipers and the lights at the same time.
