I am finally finishing the re-wire of my truck and the harness is brand new. While getting to the headlights I thought about doing the relay upgrade. Should I do it/ is it worth it with the new harness?

I would say yes. The stock wiring is what, 16 or 18 gauge ... run that from battery to dash switch to light, and you've got a considerable amount of resistance for a low voltage system.

You could check your headlight voltage versus battery voltage with a digital voltmeter ... if there's more than, say, 100mV (i.e. .1 volts) difference, you should do the relay thing.

Assuming your K5 is a '76, yes, do the headlight relay mod. Also do the FORD starter relay mod. Also install dedicated grounds Batt to engine, Batt to frame, Batt to firewall & Engine to frame, etc.
If your rig isn't already diesel, having the second Batt is a definite bonus.
