sorry for creating another thread.
But I pull the headlight switch, The rear lights come on, Instrument lights. But no headlights.. Yes the bulbs are good . I'm assuming It's something from the lights to wherever the wires lead to..
Where do they lead so I can just run new wires and have headlights
its an 81 k5. 350/350/208

probably start with changing the headlight switch. Simple and cheap

I pulled the headlight plug off of the headlight, and stuck a test light in there. I'm not getting power , fuses are good. ground is good
also when I pull the headlight switch on, the front running lights/blinkers don't turn on either.

There is a plug on the firewall that those wires lead to, check it out and make sure it is firmly planted in the fuse box connection.

You have a high beam switch on the floor? check connections at that switch, mine did the same thing.

Work on it one system at a time, but start with that plug on the firewall. It is pretty common to get corrosion in that plug and not get a connection to the stuff on the front clip. It can also have been loosened by a PO or any number of other things. All the lights on the front end are on a single plug that plugs into the back of the fusebox. That entire harness can be replaced without replacing the entire chassis harness.

There will be a big block of connectors down near the fender well on the driver's side. If you look at your headlights, you will be able to see the wire colors and look for the plug with those wires on the firewall. It is actually the back side of the fuse box, so that is the area you need to look. There are several connectors, one for rear lighting, one for engine stuff, and one for the front clip lighting. Each of those should be tight, and I believe there is a bolt to hold them all down, but I don't have mine here to look at.

Yes it was all good to go. Sorry in advance.. I JUSt bought the k5 today. so trying to get it "road worthy". I pulled the headlight switch off, And Just totally broke the plastic plug And wired the wires without the plug.. and !! the headlights turn on. Highs and lows.
So my only problem now is the wipers dont work. And blinkers.
But for the wipers I was looking at the motor and it looks burnt out. I am getting power to the motor. Just not working.
so now my problems are, the blinkers. and wipers..

Turn signals you need to check the big flat connector on the top of the steering column. Do your brake lights work? Brake lights on these run through the turn signal switch, so if they don't work it is probably either a disconnected plug or a bad signal switch. If it is a bad switch you will need to pull the steering wheel to replace the switch. There is also a flasher relay, but I can't remember at the moment where it is mounted.

Wipers, if you are getting power at the motor connector, most likely need to replace the motor.

got my headlights working, blinkers.. wiper motor is bad.
Buut today while I was getting out of the k5... SNAP! the seat frame gave out on the top left bolt. thats bolted to the floor... I took a spare piece of metal, drilled a hole in it, set it ontop of the Frame. and bolted her down.. But while i was doing that, I noticed the floorpan is rusted where my seat is, And its rusted through a bit.. uh oh...
