I have a 1988 Chevrolet k5 blazer it had a rod knock so I pulled the motor and found out it was a 307 out of a 69 Camaro bored .30 over so I sold that and got a 350 out of an 86 Chevy truck, cleaned it up put it in everything is good and working good except now my headlights/daylights and interior lights don't work they did before the swap. I replaced the switch and the 2-30amp circuit breakers and cleaned up all the grounds I could find and nothing. My turn signals and hazards work fine but no dash no dome no headlights/daylights. Any help would be greatly appreciated I am half tempted to just replace the entire wiring harness (PO spliced wires cut wires etc) and My turn signal switch smokes when I use the washer fluid. Any help and pointers would be greatly appreciated this was my first motor swap I've done many trans.

Thanks
Matt

First question, is the truck running again?

Edit. I re read this so I see that it is.

The reason I asked is because there are some fusible links down by the starter that power up the various systems on the truck. I broke one of them while pulling and/or reinstalling my engine.

Truck is starting and running good, turn signals hazards brake lights and reverse lights all work

On my 89, there were at least two power wires running into the cab. I think the starter one is not the one that is linked to the headlights. I know there is one from the alternator to the distribution block by the booster on mine. I would check that. It does have a fusible link on it. From there, I think one more wire has a link and runs to the fuse box too. I think they feed different parts of the fuse block so all circuits connected to that source will be out too. I'll check some diagrams

After looking at my diagrams (assuming yours is similar) the red wire off the alternator to the firewall harness feeds the circuits that are down (it does not go to the junction block apparently). Chances are your horn is out too. Check for voltage on the right side of these fuses: horn/dm, t/l ctsy, ecmb. If none have voltage, something is going on with the red wire mentioned above. Let us know what you find.

Again, your wiring may be different, but it's likely pretty similar.1H is the location on the firewall connector on mine. It's on one of the corners

ok ill give that a try thanks for the help. And ya my horn doesnt work either. there is a fusible link on the drivers side off the harness. ill check the fuse box for voltage

Ya so no voltage in fuse box, so I would guess that fusible link coming out of the wiring harness? So I just cut that one out and splice a new one in?
