i was driving home and turned on the headlights it was getting dark.
at the stop light, the headlights started flashing. turn them off they stop for a little while and then start again. where do i even begin to fix this?

They flash because there is a built in circuit breaker in the headlight switch that trips if there is a short or excessive amps being drawn from the light wiring...adding extra driving or fog lamps can cause this if they are tapped into the headlight wiring...a poor ground can do it also..check for any broken wires grounded at the radiator support near the headlamps..

Also, if everything checks OK, then the breaker in the switch might have gotten tired.
Its built into the switch, so you would have to replace the whole thing, but they are usually fairly cheap.
But, the first thing to look at is a dim or missing light. Turn the headlights on, and if any light is not right, that is the first place to look.
Any short in the headlight circuit can cause it I think. If there is a short or a bad ground that bulb will usually show it.

well i just changed the switch, i was playing with it and when you turn the radio on it does it real bad so ill cut where the radio is spliced into the headlights and see if that helps.

have to finish checking in the morning my truck is loud, and it only does it running

Normally the only part of a radio that is hooked to the headlights is the illumination bulb in the readout.
It comes from there so that the radio will light up with the headlights and dim when you dim the dash.
If that is the problem its simple to cut since its a separate wire

On square bodies, you can hook up the radio dial light to a fuse box tap labeled "LPS" ,that gets power only when the parking lights are on,it was put there for dash gauge lights--I have used that tap to power fog lamps before..

well i took my volt meter and put it on tone and checked the grounds and i dindt have any.
the ground from body to battery was bad and thats where the lights grounded on passenger side. driver side was bad to. cleaned and re-did the grounds made a new ground from battery to frame battery to body, and body to motor.

when i turned the headlights back on they where brighter and no flashing but when i take it out today ill run with the headlights on and make sure
