We have this chevy 350 out of my old red blazer we are trying to sell. The previous owner said that just alone the heads are worth $500 bucks (canadian). Now, I don't know anything hardly about engines so this is where CK5 comes in.
What heads would be worth that much? Saying that they are not aftermarket...

Thanks

get back to us with what you find, and we'll let you know why they're valuable or not..

Post up the casting numbers for us to see also though. Pretty much i'm betting that if someone thinks they're valuable that the numbers are going to end with "041". Those heads have a 64cc combustion chamber like the old camel hump 327's but they have accessory bolt holes in the ends of the heads and were used from 1962-1982 on 307, 327, and 350's.

Okay I got it:

3898993
0 6 73

GM 4

00NV4

That's all I found.

I checked and it didn't match anything on that website? Did I write it down wrong?

Sure about that second number?

Probably

3998993....72-73...307/350......75cc chambers
3998993....current..350.........Goodwrench crate motors,"Hecho en Mexico",75cc chambers

if its the truck head, it'll have 1.72/1.5 valves if auto it'll have 1.94/1.5 valves

with the large chamber, not much of a performance head imo.. older, heavier casting but thats about it imo... 993's aren't highly sought after afaik...

No I'm not positive on the second number. It was hard to read.

So would they be worth the money he said? Or are they not that much better?

sounds like the stock head for the motor... what year is the truck and do you think its the original motor?

It came out of a 84 blazer. I have no clue if its stock or not. My dad says he thinks it was out of the truck before. I'm not sure now though...

Thanks

The "993" casting heads are "Hecho En Mexico" like ryoken said. Those are target master heads and probably a complete target master engine. That engine was never installed in a vehicle factory but rather a target master crate engine. Those heads are the heavy casting heads which are more desirable than the later light weight castings but still nothing performance related about them. They are in no way worth $500.00 as the guy told you.
