anyone use anything like these two propane heaters? wondering how well they would work in 2 car garage in 30-40 degree weather outside?

I just bought one similar to your 'Thermoheat' picture for my barn. It was rated for something like 78000 BTU (bought it at Tractor Supply). It doesn't heat up the barn to the point I'm in a T-shirt but it takes the chill off and is safe.

I've been heating my 2 car garage for years with that dual burner Mr. Heater at the top... use it on a 30 lb bottle, works awesome.... matter of fact, I just fired it up 5 minutes ago! :haha:

Yep, same here. I have the one with the ceramic inserts, once they warm up it works well in a two car garage.

i use a propane salamander 150000 btu's in my 30x30 shop and it works great the shop will go from 0 to 20 degrees in 15 min but my trick is that i have a celing fan in the shop to help circulate the air

I have 2 of the dual burner ones on 40 lbs bottle, have had them almost 20 yrs. they will heat the garage to 70, but you do have to get some fresh air at some point

Like they said above. We use the dual head unit sometimes at deer cap in a 15'x17' canvas hunting tent during the season. It warms that thing up nicely. Your garage is bigger than that but probably has better insulating properties than canvas.

Edit: Just be real carful with your little girls around them. In a garage I'd try to make some sort of base that the propane cylinder sits into to keep it from tipping so easily.

The jet engine looking ones we have at work and they heat very well but are quite loud.

I use milk crates, the bottle fits in tight, also mkes transporting them easier bacause they won't roll around in the back of the truck.

I've been thinking about getting one of these too. How often do you have to fill the tank?

I get about 25 hrs out of a 30 lb'er.....

i bought that mr heater at a swap meet like 15 yrs ago for $10!!! :eek1: :saweet:

Is your garage insulated? Mine's insulated in the walls but not the ceiling. It's an attached garage, so one wall is part of the house, obviously. Even with no heat it never gets freezing in there. I've had a shallow tray of water out there all winter and it has never froze. Not even in the dead cold of night.

Mine is insulated. I use them at my shop now it is 1500 sq ft and the 2 heater will keep it warm in the Texas winters we have here.

my house is basically a cinderblock 2 car garage, with a 2 bedroom apartment over it... the lower half, garage, is just block wall... the top 1/2 is stick and beam... the ceiling/floor does have some insulation to it...

as Teck mentioned, once it warms up in there, I turn the burner down...

I have this one.

Lowes or Home Depot had it cannot remember which, it will last about 20 hrs on high, maybe 30 on low. It will get my insulated two car garage from 30 to 70 degrees in about 30 minutes. As mentioned you have to crack a door or window once in a while.
