I have an 84 CK5 with a 350. I just noticed the other night (while sealing exhaust leaks) that it looked like my Heat riser valve may be sticking. I have heard of people just doing away with these. What is the best way to make that happen? Do you remove the valve from the valve body and reinstall - remove the entire valve and use some other exhaust tube to fill the gap, etc? Does anyone make a delete kit for my model (I have seen some online for other vehicles, but not mine. Thanks in advance for any help ya'll can offer!!!

there are cast iron spacers out there that fill the void of a missing one
not sure where to get them as the person who did my exhaust actually had one on the shelf
either way, you can take it off, cut the valve off with a torch etc and put it back in
I believe its neutral state is open, so you can just make sure it's open and be done too

also, welcome aboard

You won't like how long it takes to warm up or drive good without it... or the loss of MPG.

Really they work good for stock near stock engines by sending some exhaust gas through intake to warm it up. When exhaust flow increases it just blows open.

Will I notice that much difference just after start up? I an in south Louisiana (usually warm) and this is a truck that I rarely drive. It's actually my "Flood Truck" to get me in and out from my house when our river floods our access road. This happens a few times a year. I do start the truck up every 2 weeks though.

personally, mine has never worked
then I had a custom exhaust done, at that point, the valve inside when bye bye
but it doesn't get cold around here, and when it did, proper warm up time seemed reasonable

For your purpose it will be fine. When you will notice is half warmed up it will start to die like it needs more choke. When choke is off and intake is still not warm.

Doesn't sound like MPG is an issue...

Both of mine are gone and it does get cold here. The Jimmy has full tube headers and the Blazer has stock exhaust manifolds with the heat riser hacked out. Not an issue..............run it!
