I had a blown doughnut gasket where the exhaust meets the exhaust manifold on the pass side. The muffler shop said I was missing a heat riser and without it I would continue to blow the gaskets on that side.Is there any truth to this?It was not there when I got the truck and apparently someone extended the exhaust pipe to compensate for the lack of it.Do I need it and if so where can I get one besides the boneyards 'cause none of the ones around here have one?I don't want headers.

I think what he meant was it is missing the EFE valve. There is an elimanator spacer that most exhaust shops should have to put in its place. Even without it being there you can modify the exhaust pipe to make it seal up against the manifold by using the flat gasket and a flanged pipe instead of the doughnut
