My heater/AC vents in the dash that are adjustable are very sloppy. I direct them to blow air on me and as soon as I hit a bump, they are pointing at the ground. Anybody know of a fix for this ? Any genius ideas ? Thanks!

Welcome to Chevy dash vents. I always see paper or business cards folded up and stuffed in next to the vents. Added bonus is how cool this custom mod looks.:D

Nice, I don't have to type much, It's been already said.:haha: Maybe if you pulled them out, and somehow built up the nipple that they rotate on, then put them back, might stay. Model glue? Mine just go as they please.

Yup I already had the business card and a penny stuffed in there. Lol I guess I will just keep using that trusty method. Thanks!

Try using a retractable ball point pen. Use the pocket clip on one of the vertical vent ribs just under or just above one of the horizontal vent ribs. If the pen is long enough if will stop the bouncing around. Bonus, now you will have a way to write down the info on how to contact LMC for new vents if this is not good enough.:D

My long-term plan is to strip my dash pad to metal, and weld in some patches where the vents go. Then I'll recover it with an aftermarket vinyl piece that has no cutouts for dash vents (even the non a/c trucks have the cutouts behind the trim).

Finally I'm going to punch round holes in it and install aircraft-style vents, like these.

It'll be badass. :D

I replaced all my vents with new ones from the dealer because of this same issue. The vents weren't too expensive but after seeing what makes them stay in place i can tell you how to fix them even cheaper. Basically there is a foam washer on each end of the vent that keeps them in place. Easy fix is going to be either your local hobby store or craft store for a piece of 1/4" thick foam material and just cut out some "washers" and place them over the nipples and re-install the vents. :thumb:

Man, thanks for that. I was just about to spend my entire "economic stimulus" check on jonrpick's vents. I'm not sure if I was going to have enough cash.:haha::haha:Seriously, good advice about the foam washers. Thank you.

Use some Silicon Gasket Sealer. The Black stuff usually matchs up good on some trims. If you use your figure to smooth it out its not as noticeable

So are these vents easily accessible and removable ? Pull off the dash pad and there they are ?

hey at least you have vents the po of mine riped out the main vent and put a couple guages in there with a half assed home made metal bracket ... it looks so bad lol

i plan on putting some small wave washers on mine...something like this...puts tension on things, I used 'em on my harley. helped to keep down the wear & tear from vibration.

Just rotate them all the way down. Then use those sticky little velcro squares(the fuzzy side)and stick it on the the vent, rotate it back up and instant fix!You don't have to remove the dash.

I think i have one new long one GM new in the garage I'm not going to use if any one wants to make a offer ill check and see if i can find it.
