The heater in my 04 Dodge ram is acting up. I've noticed two things: The temperature guage reads hot, then cool and goes back and forth. Not extremely hot and not extremely cold. Then I lose heat for a minute and it comes back. The heat seems, I may be mistaken, to come back when I throttle. What could the problem be? A sensor tied in with my Temp guage?

Flush the system. Reverse flush the heater core with a water hose. Change the thermostat. Use new antifreeze.

Sounds to me like you have an air pocket trapped somewhere in the system. If the coolant is too low the heater won't work correctly and the same goes for an air pocket trapped in the system, you can't get heat from an air pocket.
