the slider for the heater controls is snapped off. I need a new unit, but I would like to replace it with all the duct work etc so I can put an a/c in this at some point.

I have the hairball idea that eventually I'll put a later model serpentine on it, and get the a/c working.

The firewall is different for A/C and non A/C trucks as is the duct, heater core location etc.You may want to post in the garage or do a search to see if it has been done or worth doing. You might want to look into aftermarket A/C as an easier(but not cheaper)solution.I have A/C equipped 1980 and 1985 parts depending on what route you take.

alright thanks Mike - I'll look into it a bit. would you be able to post a pic of the a/c firewall? where do you live in SD anyway I have an employee that lives in spearfish. if you are anywhere near I could use him to shuttle parts to me.

I don't mind putting time / work into a conversion as long as the price is right. I can't afford much out of pocket for a/c, but I can put man hours into a conversion.

I can live without it it isn't a deal breaker, but sure would be nice at times.

It is generally a major undertaking to make this change, but it could be done if you cut out the section of the firewall with all the holes from the donor truck and graft it into your truck cab.

how many hours would you estimate?

I'm in Spearfish (about 15 miles from me)all the time so that could work well.I'll snap some pics later on today and hopefully some others chime in about how much work it would be for you.

I have an A/C truck I am scrapping, I could cuttout the firewall section for you for $10 plus another $10 for the ductwork.
I also have the A/C unit that goes on the firewall, I do not have the Compressor but I believe everything else I do including the radiator, I will take $75 for everything I have for A/C you will need to get the compressor for your engine.
And I could possibly deliver.:D

you got yourself a deal thanks iceman... it sounds like a bear to convert, but I need a winter project on that stupid thing to keep me busy anyway lol

It's actually not that bad, I did that to a 74 blazer I had, I had another 73 that was a mess but was A/C and once you lign up the patch and weld it in, it's pretty straight forward to bolt up all the parts.

I have the controls and some of the ducting from an '89 with AC if they guys above don't have what you need.

Got a nice ac/heat box, condensor, evap, and what I'm pretty sure is all the duct work.

Lemme know trucks getting scrapped monday
