Got the unit out of my 90 but cannot figure out how to take the actual core itself out. I watched YouTube videos but those show a simple 4 screws and the unit pops out....this one seems like it’s a solid cover that just pop off.
Any suggestions? I want to get it done so I can clean the anti-freeze off of my grand new carpets

The black at the bottom of picture is where the core is located.

Undo the vacuum lines and vent door cable so you can fully remove the housing.
Then you have to find the bolts holding the heater core cover on - they may be under that weather-strip.
I had to pull the hinge pin for the blend door out before the parts would come apart.

It's really not too bad once you get it open. Take the time to wash it all out - there is 30 years of dirt and dust in there.
I replaced the weather-strip with some I got from Home Depot.
