i just want to say that i got out my heater core thanks to ck5 ok. but iam having another problem there is a door with a little white plastic thing with a nut at the end that holds it to this swing door. when i was trying to seperate the box to get the core out i broke the end of this plasticpiece right now iam trying to glue it with gorilla glue but if it does not hold is the anyplace where i can get that piece fr 1 more question i noticed that there was another little core inside my firewall does that ever need to be changed. just would like to know before i put it all back together.

superglue worked well for me twice! Next time I took apart my other blazer heater duct and used it, still have one left. I've replaced the core on all 7 of my K5's over the years, what a blast. Where in NY are you?

iam located in new paltz. right now i must have a half of a bottle of that gorrila glue which to me works good. but my problem is that iam no anal about little things like that i just dont want to put it back together and then it does not work after all the work i did just to get it out and done. but i think when it dries tommorow it will be like a concrete wall. so you had the same problem and you used super glue and it worked.

Same problem with mine. I used a piece of aluminum angle on each side to sandwich the retainer. Cut the alum. to about the same size as the plastic piece, mark and drill the hole for the nail/pin and then secure it to the door with a few self tapping screws for metal studs and replace. It is not much heavier than the original setup and it will not break again.

If you need pics I might be able to find some at home but the hard-drive crashed on the comp at home.

alls went well:bow: got it all back together today i even had to get a new 5/8 hose, my old one was on its way out. after i finished started up the k and cranked the heat and it was on fire, real hot! but i did notice on the passenger side dfrost was not coming out as much as the drivers side, but you know what who cares i got heat now and no more sweet candy smell. carpet is hanging out to dry washed it up real good.so next will be inner fender well thats in bad shape seems like it never ends.

I know I am late and you already got everything back in, but I thought I would chime in really quick on this part. It is an evaporator core (for the AC?). The part goes for $159.95 in the LMC catalog. :eek1:

Under normal wear the evaporator core will not need to be replaced. However, when replacing the R-12 with R-134 it is not a bad idea to replace both the evap and condensor in front of the radiator with newer units that are designed for 134 as they are better equipped to handle the newer refrigerant.
