I would like some help on how the heater hoses are suppose to be routed. Mine currently go from the radiator to the heater core, out the heater core to a fitting on the intake manifold. The water pump has an outlet that has been plugged. I thought the line from the heater core was suppose to go into the water pump? Any help would be appreciated. Oh one more thing where would the temperature sensor be for the temp gauge?

this shows the smaller diameter hose going in to the left of the water neck, the hose just below the wires.

this one shows the larger diameter hose coming out of the radiator

here is the plug on the water pump and you can also see the smaller diameter hose on top

The fitting on the water pump is a "non-pressure" fitting, amazingly enough.

The intake fitting provides the pressure, so coolant flows from the intake, through the heater core, and discharges into the radiator.

You can run the "return" line to the water pump if you wish, but I don't see much benefit to doing so, except you could keep the two lines paired up longer.

Water pump port is for those radiators not equipped with the return fitting, my old Nova was set up that way. All my trucks so far have had the return to the radiator.

Thanks you guys, I wanted to make sure it wasn't Jimmy rigged...lol
Now any help pointing me to the gauge temperature sensor?

My water pump took a dump so Im replacing it, but autoparts guy gave me the wrong one so now I have to take it back. I also changed out the heater core which was a major pain..
next is the ps pump and ps gear box, I hate leaks..

Temperature *sender* for the gauge? Drivers side head, sticking out like a spark plug, single wire, should be dark green IIRC.
