Is There Any Negative Effects From Hooking The Heater Hoses To The Heater Core Backwards?
 
there shouldn't be... its a loop either way.

Besides that, they should be different sized fittings, usually one is 5/8 and the other is 3/4
 
yeppers... there is a Mr. Gasket brand adapter you can get from Summit / Jegs etc if you need it.
