Does anyone know how to fix a kinda grinding noise that happens when I turn my heater on - kinda like a fan or something in the dash is scraping or hitting something? It happens pretty often but not all the time and sometimes its when the fan is on low and not medium or high and sometimes vise versa. In other words it happens sometimes at any of the three fan settings but sometimes stops for a while when I set it to a diffrent setting.
All in all - it happens about 80% of the time when I turn the heater on.

Thanks in advance

It's 5 or 6 screws from the engine side of the firewall to get the fan and motor out. Probably a bunch of leaves ad crud built up. If the motor is going bad they are only $17 from orielly's

bearings in the motor. I changed mine a few days ago in my 88 doing the same thing. get a new motor for 15 bucks and the upgraded like 5 dollar more fan from advance is metal instead of the oe plastic

Yep, motor is on it's way out, it will most likely quit at the most inopportune time :D

There was a mouse nest in mine. I installed a screen guard to keep them out.

Boy, if there are mice in your interior, there are a lot of problems they can cause besides just blocking the ducts.
