I have a 89 suburban and my heater use to work fine till I went out this weekend it stopped working. It blows air through all vent its just not hot. It just blows air can someone help me figure this out.

Try flushing your heater core. Connect a garden hose to your heater core line's, and force water through. Another posibility, does your Burb have an external heater control valve? Could be your culprit also.

No it dosent have an external heater valve thats the first thing I thought also and checked. The heater core isnt leaking but ill flush it radiator is full of coolant and dosent over heat dont know what happened. I was on a real bumpy trail all conections are good im stuck.

There are vacuum lines behind the dash that open/close different "doors" of the heating/cooling system and i'll bet one either came off or cracked and isn't allowing the door actuator to function any longer.

How can I locate those lines from uner dash or take top part of dash apart. Thanks

Go through the glovebox and you should be able to access all the vacuum lines and check for leaks or broken/disconnected lines. This is assuming you have a vehicle with A/C, since the heater only systems don't use a vacuum system, cables only.

It will probably be easiest to remove the dash pad to get a good view under the dash. Removing the glove box should be of help as well.

thermostat....?

coolant level.....?

Are you sure he has vacuum lines? My 89 jimmy has cables on the HVAC. I have to reach under the dash and pull on the cable after I slide the selector switch to get the blend door to close all the way from dash vents to the heater floor vent.

I know my 89 blazer has vacuum hoses under there that control some of the function(s).

Normally I think the blend is controlled by cables on ours, while functions such as which vents are used in A/C systems are controlled by vacuum.
