As y'all know, I drive a 1994 GMC Yukon, and it hasn't been the greatest truck in terms of mileage, power, repair costs, etc. I started out getting just about 17mpg regularly, and over the last couple months, it has steadily declined to about 15mpg, after replacing a bunch of parts that should have raised it to 18 to begin with...

Well, after towing some rocks behind the old girl, the turbo started to spool up nice and loud, and I realized what I was missing. A couple weeks after I towed the rocks, the turbo stopped spooling again. I figured the computer finally figured out what it was supposed to be doing based on the load. Well, I couldn't get it to spool again, even towing another load that was likely heavier than the first load of rocks.

Not having any idea what to do, I started going to diesel forums all over the place... and found the TurboMaster... a manual wastegate controller that bypasses the vacuum and computer control of the 1994-1995 wastegate, and the Max-E-Torq EPROM, which added 65hp and 130ft-lbs of torque to my 6.5L...

Now, when I get on the throttle, even with 3.42 gears, it puts me in my chair... this truck is an entirely new animal. Power, power, and more power... oh, and 22-24mpg to boot, all for less than $500... I'll have paid it off within 10 fillups at the current price of Diesel fuel. It's seriously time for me to find a waste oil source... I already have some stuff that will prevent it from rotting or gelling through the winter, just need to get my source and some tanks... then I don't have to spend $3.40 a gallon on the ****.

Do you have a link? I would like to read a lil more on this.

Cowboy dropped the right link for you... they handle everything GM Diesel from 1982 6.2L through the 1999+ 6.5L and Hummer 6.2L and 6.5L...

If you've got a 6.2L, you'll still need to go through Banks for Turbo kits, but Heath has all the other performance parts you need to make a few hundred HP with them...

Usually I don't show "brand loyalty" for aftermarket stuff, but while Kennedy Diesel says their chips will perform differently on every truck - for whatever reason be it that they don't hand program each one, or whatever, I don't know - Heath Diesel says their chips will add a specific amount of HP and Torque, and the other components are all rated by HP and Torque as well, and they can test it because they all drive GM 6.5Ls and have their own dyno...

My next project is the exhaust system, 2.5" crossover pipe and a 4" turbo-back exhaust, minus the Cat... Still under $500 for the whole works I think... maybe a bit over $500, but still reasonable for the power and torque and fuel mileage gains associated with it.

I'm dredging this up

Because I thought it would be better than a whole new thread about it.

I just put the Max E Tork on my '96 Burb and it is pretty cool. Really woke it up. The old Burb just feels like a much more willing partner now! I haven't had time to measure mileage yet, but I can tell it will vary greatly depending on how I drive it. IT'S GETTING FUEL NOW:eek1: If I drive around like a granny it scoots around fine, if I drop the hammer it smokes and goes. It feels much more powerful.

I already had the Turbo Master without the ECM. It was cool, but the factory computer cuts back the fuel if it sees too much boost. It drove me nuts climbing passes. I'd be trucking along then all the sudden I couldn't get over 55-60 mph. It took me awhile to figure out what the hell was going on. I probably would have lived with the factory tune if it wasn't for that. But I'm glad I got the Heath ECM. I like having the choice to burn lots of fuel when I want to!:thumb:
