Heavier hitch, or weight distribution?

Tim,

Could you explain to me how these work, I have never used any. Do they help prevent the back of the truck from bouncing over bumps and do they put any weight on the steer axle? /forums/images/graemlins/ears.gif

Thanks

Yes they do. I wish I'd taken the pic with them installed.

There is a head that they fit into (hitch ball is also on this same head) and they pull upward on it to transfer weight to the front of the truck.

They are used to level the truck and trailer when pulling and help to distribute the load evenly. I pulled my trailer about 75 miles today and it's amazing how much better and straighter it feels going over bumps with the new arrangement.

Hopefully someone can post up a pic so you can see how they work.

These 1200 lb bars ROCK!!

How bout this?

There ya go. That would be a weight distributing hitch setup (with frame mounted reciever). Also in the pic you can see a friction-type sway control, which isn't the best setup in the world but they work pretty well (only downside if you have to remove it when backing up).
