Hedman Street Headers 69230

I wouldnt go long tube headers. Yes, long tubes make more top end power (like 4000 rpm+) and they are the "classic" look, but it will put the header flanges fairly close to your front spring shackles, and maybe your driveshaft, depending on lift.
Fairly certain I will be changing out my long tube true dual system for a mid-length or shorty header system, y-pipe, then a single 3" within the next year or so. Look at what exhaust size your engine really needs, then look at how it will have to move over the t-case.... you have to get around it somehow.

I had those on my 79 for years.
They are close to the spring bolt on the passenger side. Buy didn't hit in my truck.
Other say they hit.
That said I have some headman elite in stainless for when my new engine goes back down in.

cant find a shorty header that will fit
I would buy them again for another truck. It makes a difference to ya.
Might have to switch the spring bolt around, but that's about it.

and have duels now that dont hit t-case ,just pipe is giving out in area and im tired of patching it.
had hooker comp that fit and wouldnt seal , bought ebay cheapy's and you had to make em fit collector blew if you looked at it wrong

69830 or any of the variants. They aren't "long tube", more mid-length. I can't remember Hedmans part number matrix, but I'm guessing what you found is the same length, just different finish.

Been running the stainless version (62230) for years now. No issues.

For $20, I think that O2/flange is a decent deal. You can find and weld in the proper thread metric jam nut (m18x1.5 IIRC?) but for $20? Meh.

We've used a few of the 69230/830 and they sit high enough to be away from the shackles. And they do clear clutch linkages and auto trans linkage too.

Long tube headers are good everywhere, not just high rpm.

Hedman has two basic header designs for the old trucks. This design in question clears the spring shackles easily.

I have run three sets of these. They clear the manual linkage fine, needed a little bit of massaging for autos

So I just installed these the other day and the shift linkage is in the way, I just cut the tab off the linkage and reversed it, they fit fine now. The linkage now is out of the way and works fine, bending the linkage slightly is another option. Since I weld I just cut it and reversed it.
