I want to do the upgrade to the XJ steering shaft, and another member has one for me, but I've read about different splines on the older trucks that the shaft will not work with. I have a '77. What year is the change in? Is there a way to make it work if this is true? This would be a nice addition to the upgrade of the steering brace.

I have a 70's 2wd steering box for my 74 and the xj shaft fit perfectly. Also the 4wd box that came with my 74(not sure if it was the original) had the same splines. I took my old ragjoint with me to the junkyard to verify that it would fit by test fitting it on the xj steering box.

i put one on my 79 chevy and it fit perfect, well i had to snuggle it in , and everytime i hit a hole or bump my steering wheel bounces!!
