Well my buddy who lives up north of me invited me to go out wheeling with him a few members of the newly formed 4x4 club. So on Saturday morning I loa ded up my 2 year old son and made the 90 mile drive north to meet em. Blazer ran great except it is trying to diesel after being shut off... At any rate I shoe up, there are a couple decent jeeps, and a hand full of toyota buggy types. I show up with a vehicle a good 25 years older than all the rest.

At any rate as the day went on, I went in 2wd where most of them we in 4. We finally got to place to play a bit on a ledge and all the yotas were scratching an clawing to get up, they struggled, spread mud all over covered the rock with snow and mud. In the end after 30 minutes of playing 2 of the 4 made it but after 20 minutes each of trying. The one ended up suffering from a major over heating issue and 3 broken beads...

So I looked at it, it was a mess, I figured why not. So I pick my line ease on and juiced it. Right up and over hardly spun a tire. So then I went to the hard line (one tried by the 2 who made the easier line) Hit front bumper a bit on appraoch then got tire started up. Front went up, back hung for a second turned front a touch and up I went. Pretty much at that, they all decided we need to hurry up and get on the trail? I played for like 5 minutes total compared to thier 30+ and then it was time to get?

At any rate, I liked the guys, but they all looked at my 72 blazer a lot different after the trip than when I showed up with a 40 year old vehicle with childs seat in the front...

Sorry my camera died so not pics... I will see if one of the others will send some...

Cool story. I know the yotas are light but I still prefer a full size. What excuses did they have for taking too long?

That was the best part, they all just got really quiet and headed to their rigs. The one ford truck with us couldn't believe what he saw. He was the only one to talk with me besides my buddy. The real difference was power. granted they all would do things I can't, but mainly cause I am not willing to lay it over...

Just shows it doesnt matter what make or age of the vehicle.

It is all about how it is setup, tire type, wheelbase, etc.

X2 You can have all the power and goodies but its knowing where to apply it.

Oh yeah old age and treachery will always beat youth and skill.

Ive just gotten back into full size trucks, had mine for a bit over a year now... I can attest they are akin to mountain goats... :woot:

Also, if I ever meet you in person Im going to kick you in the ballz for not posting video.

Cool story, thanks for posting!
