If I get 96-02 Vortec head small block and put on the Edelbrock vortec manifold can use my current 91 HEI system?

What about EGR location?

From what i understand there is a "kit" that you need to purchase in order for the EGR system to be retained. The HEI is no different.

There's the EGR supply tube.
On my setup ('85/q-jet), the EGR port on the intake is driver's side front (it's an inverted flare fitting). I've used the tube referenced above to get the exhaust gas from the O2 sensor port on the driver's side header (since I didn't need an O2 sensor for my carb). I've used an O-ring fitting to flare fitting adapter from an industrial hydraulics supply house to make the connection to the tube - admittedly awkward, but it seems to work since '03...

I looked at making the EGR tube off of an '80's 2.8L Camaro work (probably just about any 2.8L GM product) and while it would have taken some grinding, I think it would have fit the Vortec EGR flange. I don't know what the Edelbrock EGR flange looks like, if its the same as my Vortec TPI base (which was reportedly cast by Edelbrock) then it might work for you.

$90 is kind of pricey, but if it comes with the metal piece to weld to your exhaust with the matching flange for the EGR feed pipe, it's probably not worth the effort to make something else fit.
